Stainless Steel Solvent Wet Benches

Modutek

Solvent wet benches in stainless steel

Solvent processing needs its own bench. Acetone and IPA are flammable, so Modutek builds its solvent benches in 304 stainless steel, with fire suppression integrated into the station and electrics built for Class 1 Div 2. Acids and bases go on Modutek’s FM4910 wet benches instead. SiSTEM supplies Modutek solvent benches across the UK and Europe, and our team installs and services them here.

Built into every solvent station

  • 304 stainless steel construction rated for solvent process compatibility
  • Fire suppression integrated into the station design
  • Station built for Class 1 Div 2
  • Nitrogen head case purge with interlock
  • Emergency power off with mushroom button and full safety interlocks
  • 1″ lip exhaust on every solvent tank
  • All-Teflon plumbing
  • Wiring to NFPA 70 and 79

Heated solvent baths

Modutek’s solvent baths have an electropolished 316L stainless steel process vessel, with the outer housing in stainless steel or FM4910. They run from 30 to 100°C and hold the process temperature to ±1°C, heating at 2°C a minute. Both series are designed for Class 1 Div 2 and meet the Class 1 Div 1 Group D requirements.

SFa series. A recirculating bath with four-sided brick heaters, which can be repaired rather than replaced.

Sa series. A constant temperature bath with a bonded five-sided circuit heating element and redundant safety devices.

Options for both include a liquid level sensor, a stainless steel diffuser plate, a process temperature controller, an auto lid and custom vessel sizes.

Manual to fully automated

Solvent benches come in manual, semi-automated, fully automated and dry-to-dry configurations. A PLC touchscreen can be added for process control, and the station can carry third-party certification to NFPA 70 and 79 and seismic zone 4 structural certification. Typical work includes photoresist stripping and acetone and IPA cleans.

Solvent bench questions

Why is a solvent bench built in stainless steel?
Solvent benches carry flammable chemistry, so Modutek builds them in stainless steel with fire suppression integrated. Acid and base benches use FM4910 construction.

What does Class 1 Div 2 mean?
It’s a North American hazardous location rating for areas where flammable vapours aren’t normally present in ignitable concentrations. Modutek builds its solvent stations to it. If your site works to ATEX zones, tell us early and we’ll take it up with Modutek.

How hot can a solvent bath run?
Modutek’s solvent baths run from 30 to 100°C with process temperature held to ±1°C.

Which solvents can the bench take?
Modutek lists acetone, IPA, EDP and photoresist strippers.

Buying through SiSTEM

SiSTEM quotes and supplies Modutek solvent benches across the UK and Europe, and our UK and European team installs and services them. If a bench goes down, we stay on the fault with Modutek until you confirm it’s working properly again. Get a quote, or send us your solvents and process to talk it through. For wet processing in general, see semiconductor wet benches.
