Exhaust and airflow: three tops

There are three tops to choose from. The ducted exhaust enclosure connects to your building exhaust and draws 540 cfm through the hood. A fan filter unit on the roof gives laminar downflow instead, through HEPA/ULPA filters with a carbon amine stage above them. For sites without a hood duct, the ductless recirculation top filters the air through carbon and returns it to the room.

With any top, the cabinet exhaust and each module’s own exhaust and drain connections are still needed. Our facility and utility requirements document on the X-Pro II page sets them out.

Built into every workstation

The lower cabinet has a roll-out, exhausted drawer for chemical supply vessels such as pressure cans, and waste bottles sit in containment. The balanced sash holds at any height and closes off the work area during processing. Yellow workstation lighting is safe for UV-sensitive materials, and an adjustable nitrogen blow-off gun is built in for drying parts.

An emergency off button stops every module at once, and outlets on the side of the cabinet and inside the lower cabinet give mains power and USB charging. The X-Pro II is CE marked, and CEE’s declarations cover both the workstation and the process modules fitted to it.

Cabinet options

• Side storage pod. An 18″ pod with a hinged door fits to the left or right side of the cabinet. It adds storage you can reach from inside and outside the sash.
• Drain bottles. 2.5 or 5 gallon drain bottle assemblies sit in the cabinet containment and collect spin module waste, so the spinners don’t need a house drain. A full sensor stops a new recipe starting until the bottle has been emptied.
• Vacuum pumps. 220 V vacuum pumps can be supplied with the workstation, so you won’t need house vacuum.
• Chemical supply. Pressure cans with empty sensors live in the exhausted drawer and feed each spin module’s automated dispense. Cartridge and syringe dispense are also available.
• DI sink and spare bays. A DI sink can take a 1-bay position. A prepared 1-bay or 2-bay workspace keeps room for a module you add later.

Safety package and Frame-Link

When a sensor detects a fault, the optional safety package shuts down the workstation and its modules and sounds an alarm, with an LED showing which sensor tripped. You can fit up to four sensors, chosen from left and right containment leak, chemical drawer leak, exhaust leak, over-temperature, nitrogen or CDA flow, and an external 24 VDC contact. A dry contact output links the package to a building management system, and the workstation won’t restart until every alarm has cleared.
